MIGIZI COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – December 21, 2018
The MIGIZI Communications Board of Directors is pleased to announce Kelly Drummer as the incoming President of MIGIZI Communications. Kelly follows long-term leader Elaine Salinas who retired in April 2018.
Kelly Drummer is a longtime resident of the Twin Cities and brings extensive experience working with both nonprofit organizations and community foundations. Kelly started her career in philanthropy in 1998 at the Jewish Community Foundation in Minneapolis. She has also worked with The Family Partnership, Headwaters Foundation for Justice and New Foundations – a Project for Pride in Living program. She recently ended a 7 year tenure as the founding President of the Tiwahe Foundation where she led the organization in establishing a $6 million endowment for its American Indian Family Empowerment grants.
Her experience spans over 20 years in strategic planning, organizational programming, fundraising, communications, network development and community engagement efforts. In announcing the decision, Joseph Erickson, chairman of the board, said, “We are honored to have Kelly lead our organization and to help ensure its success for generations to come. Kelly brings a sincere passion for youth and a sincere commitment to the Native American community.”
Kelly holds a Masters in Philanthropy and Development from St. Mary’s University and her B.A. from the University of Minnesota in cultural anthropology. Kelly has served as a mentor to young Native leaders throughout the past 28 years and has a particular interest in engaging with the Native community. She currently serves on The Family Partnership Board of Directors and the Community Impact Committee of the Saint Paul Foundation.
