American Indian Science and Engineering Fair

The American Indian Science and Engineering Fair allows tribally affiliated 5-12 grade American Indian students the opportunity to be recognized for their work while simultaneously granting them the chance to compete for numerous prizes, and a chance to compete at the National American Indian Science and Engineering Fair is Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Important Dates:


January 24, 2008: All paperwork and registration is due
February 1, 2008: Science Fair 8:30-2:15

Eligibility:

The American Indian Science and Engineering Fair is open to any Native American students attending classes in Grades 5 through 12 at private, public and home schools located within Minnesota.

There are two types of forms required for the American Indian Science and Engineering Fair:

1. Registration Form: This form is required for all participating students and includes a media release, code of conduct, parental permission, and general registration. The registration form will be available in November.
2. ISEF forms are required of students advancing to the National Competition. ISEF forms are used to verify that student research is done following appropriate scientific methods and ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) protocols. Each student fills out different forms depending on the research done. This paperwork is required at regional, state and national competition. Students need to make a copy of their paperwork and mail that copy to MIGIZI Communications - Science Fair, 3123 East Lake St. Minneapolis MN 55406. Keep the original forms and bring them to the fair on February 2nd. If you have any questions about the correct forms contact Cindy at cward@migizi.org

To be eligible to attend the National AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society) Fair, students must be enrolled in a school affiliated with AISES. If your school is not affiliated, please complete the enrollment form at http://www.aises.org/k-12/affiliated/2006-07_AffApp.pdf

8:30-10:00 Set up and registration
9:30-10:00 Judges/Student meetings
10:00-12:30 Judging
12:30-1:00 Lunch
1:00-1:45 Awards ceremony
1:45-2:15 Tear down
1:45-2:15 Meeting for students attending the national fair
